Calling Evil Good

In varying degrees, unbelievers call evil good and good evil. Becoming a believer is like being turned upside down. It causes us to learn that evil is evil and that good is good.

Isaiah 5:20: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Acts 17:2: And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, 3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. 4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few. 5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

When we become Christians we begin to lose our faith in men and our faith in God increases. We increasingly learn to know right from wrong. Our hearts cease to be wicked and deceitful.

Jeremiah 17:5: Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. 7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

When we receive Christ into our hearts He purifies our defiled minds and consciences.

Titus 1:15: Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Hebrews 10:22: Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

1 Timothy 1:5: Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

If nothing and no one has ever corrected your opinions about what is good and what is evil, if no one has ever turned you upside down and if no one has ever purified your conscience, I find it hard to believe that you are saved.

Sadly, there seem to be many who have received Christ but still dabble in sin. They erode their own ability to know right from wrong. Been there and done that. But praise God He is merciful and forgiving!!

1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Proverbs 28:13: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

In our society today, one of the most obvious evils that is called good is abortion. Cold-blooded murder is called a choice. If you are guilty of that as I was, God*s forgiveness is available to you. It is not an unforgivable sin.
